In the early hours of Friday, Prime Minister Justin Trudor visited St John to launch the heating pump to replace project heating oil officially. The Prime Minister has expressed his confidence in the project, which is expected to help meet net zero emissions and improve efforts towards clean energy.
The prime minister also shared pictures and expressed his view about the ongoing project on X (formerly Twitter).
We’re rolling out heat pumps and helping you make the switch off home heating oil, because heat pumps are better for your wallet and our environment. Today in St. John’s, we met with students who will help install heat pumps – and who are part of the clean future we’re building. pic.twitter.com/WemRR3LZcZ

Trudor aims to transition from traditional heating oil to more sustainable and environmentally friendly alternatives through the implementation of heating pumps. By adopting heat pumps, which use renewable energy sources such as air or ground heat, the project is likely to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with heating.
